nursing in disasters: a review of existing models

چکیده

introduction: since nurses are the largest group of health care providers playing an important role in responding to disasters, evaluating the state of nursing and nursing knowledge about common patterns of disasters is undeniable in importance and necessity. however, based on studies conducted by researchers, there are few models for nursing that show nurses’ disaster readiness. this study was conducted to review existing models and patterns for nurses in disaster situations. methods: this study reviewed the patterns in this area with extensive review of resources by the year2013accredited databases available such at medline, pubmed, blackwell, elsevier, proquest and iranmedex with keywords disaster nursing model, disaster nursing package, disaster nursing theory, disaster nursing patterns. no time limit was considered in search queries. all models associated with disaster nursing were analyzed. result: the models found in this area were very limited and included four models. disaster health model emphasizing coordination of the whole team to investigate problems in health and health services, which also has a management perspective. it is not special for nursing and has been taken to the entire team. the rehabilitation model focuses more on the back of people’s lives and society, and did multidisciplinary and does not just for nursing. however, the jennings model that shows the role of nurses in all stages before, during, and after disasters, has proposed the model of community health nursing and military nursing models focused on rapid and effective response, with military pattern and did not have any advice on civil areas and the community is not prepared for civilian nurses. conclusion: the present study showed a comprehensive model of disaster nursing in our country to suit the conditions is not designed. models in this area are very comprehensive and are not based on our culture. therefore, it is necessary to design a domestic model to show the status of nurses to provide services in the event of disasters, so that we can get this group to provide services have what problems, what the consequences of these problems and how the consequences influence on next services and services are provided in what background.
